Was the Discovery of the “Blood Sugar Switch” Purposely Suppressed?

April 23, 2024

Fifteen years ago, researchers at the Salk Institute discovered the bio-mechanism that regulates the body’s blood sugar. They called it "the blood sugar switch1.”

When the blood sugar switch turns ON, blood glucose levels are well controlled. But when turned OFF, levels can easily spike.

According to blood sugar expert, Dr. Marlene Merritt (DOM, MS Nutrition), a person’s blood sugar switch can get stuck in the OFF position. And at the time of the Salk discovery, the hope was that doctors would show patients how to control this switch, so they could turn it back ON.

“But that didn’t happen.” said Dr. Merritt. “And today more drugs are sold for Type 2 Diabetes than ever before.”

From $28 billion in annual sales in 2012, the market is expected to reach $68 billion in 2022 – a 244% increase2. Which begs the question – Was the discovery suppressed to protect drug sales?

Recognizing the problem, Dr. Merritt developed a simple protocol to flip the switch that she taught her patients.

One patient, John H, said,

“I completely eliminated my insulin shots in just 3 days.”

Also, Charles W. said,

“My doctor eliminated one medication (Invokana) and lowered my Levemir insulin from 52 units to 40 units. Dr. Marlene’s solution has been a Godsend to me.”

Recently, Dr. Merritt prepared an online video that shows how the switch works. “I can tell you, it surprises people to see how easy it is to flip the switch back to ON,” she said. “And in this way reduce or eliminate the need for drugs.”
